I've a Link Electro LEM G3 ECU that doesnt support drive by wire. In addition I dont want to rely on the electronics involved while submerged in mud or water that often frequents offroad racing courses. I wondered if there was another cable driven throttle body, from another Nissan that would be a direct replacement. Or if there is someone else here that has converted their dirve by wire TB to cable that could give some basic instructions.

Cheers, Daniel

Not sure about a direct replacement but I have seen people modify the Pathfinder 70mm TB to be used without drive by wire (in the Maxima community). They pretty much take an older TB with an actual cable mechanism and swap/merge the parts over. It's possible with the factory TB on the VQ35 but going to that effort they seem to like the larger TB. You will probably need to do some form of custom gas pedal configuration to support the changeover for a Z.

You offroading a Z or simply using a VQ35DE in something else?

VQ35DE plugged up to a Fortin gearbox in a Jimco offroader. Plan is to run the 35DE for a year or so then swap it out with either the 37VHR or heavily modify the 35DE.

Sweet...

We've had a couple others post similar pictures in the Trucks Forum of "buggies" with the VQ35DE and the VG30 as well.
