Has anyone ever thought about removing thier motors for the top to save weight? They seam like they would weigh a decent amount. And its not like it would be to hard to hop out and lift up the top...

Anyone Done this?

Welcome aboard!

I'll be pulling out my top mechanism, the hydraulic rams and the top motor soon...

In addition to my door pillar removal and some other mods, I'm WELL below the weight of a base coupe.

Just the pump is around 20 lbs. The frame and hydraulic rams are the heavy parts, probably 100 lbs or so.

Sounds like you are planning to get rid of the top entirely. You should fiberglass it over and make it a proper roadster.

Not yet - It's in the works.

Gotta get the rest of the car put together first.

God Damn 100lbs.... That would be sick.... Like an anerexic drop... And I would be able to move the top up by hand right?
