remove camshaft

looks like i need to remove exhaust camshaft on MR20DE. According to pdf I am supposed to remove upper secrion which holds both camshafts. Cant i just remove one camshaft by removing bearing caps without any special tools?

Yep. I've never had occasion to remove one on an MR20, but late model Nissan cams are never a cakewalk.

i have never replaced a cam before. i usually just swap motors. looks like upper section comes off. just wondering if i need any special tools to replace cam. also once again seeing what looks like special gasket. i guess i scrape that off and replace it with RTV.

was just thinking might be better to replace both cams. Always think of this after the fact.
