Can anyone here tell me how to remove the TCU on a 92' 240SX? I have removed the kick panel, the ECU and the Speed Control Unit but, I can't figure out how to remove the Intake Blower Unit. There are about six clips that hold the housing on around the motor, but when I try to remove this housing it still seems to be secure. There are also several screws that I have taken out as well. Any blown up pics showing the removal of this part would be very helpful as the Nissan Service Manual for this car doesn't show how to remove it.Thanks!

you should not need to remove the blower to get to the TCM or get it out. I dont know of any nissan control units in which you need to remove any major components to gain access. it is all usually trim stuff.

Well...I finally figured out how to remove the TCU. Since the TCU is definitely behind the blower motor assy, the only way to get it loose was to remove a few of the screws holding the heater core housing in place. After I removed them, I had to kinda wiggle the blower motor housing free. It took some doing but I finally got it. Now I just hope that I can get it back in there without removing the heater core assy. completely! lol

Anyway, the reason I was trying to get at my TCU in the first place is because I am having problems with my 92 240SX Auto transmission shifting intto second gear. Most of the time it will shift great, but then there are sometimes it won't shift into second at all without turning the car off and resetting the ECU.

I wanted to get the TCU loose so I could put an LED on pin 6 so I could see if the transmission was getting the signal to shift into second when the shift problem wold occur. I did this and what I found out was that when the transmission wouldn't shift into second the LED stayed 'ON' which means that the TCU was not sending the signal to the transmission. During normal operation, the LED should turn off when the transmission shifts from first to second gear. Does anyone know if there is anything else that would cause the TCU to not give the signal to switch? The ECU spits back a code that everything is fine, which tells me that all the sensors are working correctly.

Right now, I'm leaning toward a flaky TCU???? What do you think?
