Okay guys, my front end is coming off this weekend and I'm gonna attempt to paint the inside of my headlight and while I'm in there, I'm gonna mod a few things. But before I start, I have to remove the overlays that I installed. I understand that a blowdryer or heat gun will soften it up enough to remove it but what I'm worried about is the adhesive residue that will be left behind. Has anyone removed their overlays before? If so, did it leave a residue? and if it did, what is recommended to take that residue off WITHOUT harming the headlight?

Hopefully Bat will wee this and he can chime in.

When you use a blow dryer, spray some water underneath the vinyl as you peel it off. I've removed mine before and there was minimal residue. Very minimal

Thanks coupe for the tip but if there is residue, what would take it off. I've seen in Walmart, in the auto section where they sell the tints, tint film remover. Wonder if this will work?

I would imagine Invisible Glass cleaner would work ........ i would suggest Goof Off to remove adhesive residue but not sure how it works on glass ...... It did remove glue from my pinstripes

Reme, ber, our headlights are some type of poly plastic, not glass...

blowdryer with water shoud do the trick! When I removed my taillight cover, it just came off, no water no nothing, with no residue left over
