I have a 1991 240sx fastback, it has a sunroof and I was told that it is removable. is this true? I noticed that there is a strap down thing in the hatch area, i was told this holds the glass pane when its off the car? I tried taking the pane off and I couldnt get it, there is this loop thing that I can pull a lever through and then some buttons on the handle area of where you lift it but after that I am lost.... is this really removable or what??? thanks,-kyle

yes, you have to get it so the back swings up, then slide the latch in front and slide the roof sideways. it is a pita to get back on, i never take mine off.

Yes it's removable, and it's very easy to do.

First, undo the sun roof latch, and then disconnect it from the sunroof by pressing each of the two buttons, and sliding the little metal pieces out. This will disconnect the sunroof from the latch.

Next, push the sunroof up until it is completely vertical.

Then, slide it off the hinges by sliding it toward the drivers side(I think) door, and out it comes.

ok, so it does come out! Ill have to try that sliding thing. I got the pane disconnected from the car once and it was just standing perpendicular to the roof of the car but all i could see as far as removing the pane was to unscrew the two little hinges that hold it down, but i figure that cant be right, why would they make it that difficult to take off and put back on. so i just left it alone. anyway thanks for the help, Ill have to go home and play with it some more.

i guess my sunroof is different, its automatic, just press a button and it slides back into the space between the interior roof and the top of the car

I have an 89 Coupe w/ power sunroof/moonroof (whatever the hell it's called). I think it's an option which the original purchasers chose Cuz I have a friend w/ a 91/92 Coupe w/ no moonroof at all.
