I took my '09 FX35 to BestBuy to have a Viper remote starter installed. After having the car all day, the installer called to tell me he'd tried every "module" they had and couldn't get it to work. The refunded my money and I got my car back. After that, not thinking it would be such a big deal I called the dealership and asked if they could do it. They said no, but gave me a guy's name and number and said if anyone could do it he could. I called him and he said the electronics are so complicated on this vehicle that's it's very dangerous to even screw with. He said one wrong connection and you could screw up the entire electronics system. Anyone know if this is true or not? I'd love to have one. In fact, I'm a little disappointed that a $56,000 car doesn't come with one factory installed.
Anyway, the FX was stolen so that point is moot now. Except I'm thinking of trading it in on a 2011 EX35. Any advice, suggestions on the remote for the EX or general recommendations on the EX vs. the FX. I drove an EX before buying my FX and loved it. Very quick, agile, drove like a dream but I was - at the time- thinking I'd be towing a small boat and the EX has no tow rating. I've given up on the idea of a boat so the EX is back in the picture. I understand there aren't many cosmetic changes to the 2011 but several mechanical and techie upgrades:
* New standard 7-speed automatic transmission (previously 5-speed automatic)
* 18-inch wheels and tires now standard (previously 17-inch)
* Standard Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control (previously EX Journey only)
* Revised Fine Vision electroluminescent gauge illumination coloring
* Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system added to the Technology Package
* New Premium Package (combines previous Navigation Package and Bose® and Around View Monitor Package)
* Previous Premium Package now named Deluxe Touring Package
* 19-inch wheels and tires added to the Deluxe Touring Package
Supposed to be out Oct. 1 so I guess it's worth the wait (?)
