Did anyoine add a third party remote starter to their 06 Murano? Dealer wants $400.00. Seems high.

I went to a car audo/alarm installer I know and he can do the install but said it was the toughest car to install a remote starter to because of the intelligent key.

Any info would be appreciated.

LOL, I'd pay for the 3rd party unit assuming it is a reputable brand. OEM remote starts tend to lack range/functionality.

Depending on the brand/model of remote start, that price isn't too bad. Figure you will need an extra transponder key for a key wrap (dunno price off top of head...say $60 just to guess on the high side of average), add that a normal remote start w/ Keyless entry, etc.. is probably around 250 for a decent unit...added labor to integrate w/ transponder key would be approx $50 and add in that dealers often charge more than your local 12 volt specialist and it could add up to $400 quickly. If the unit is a 2-way one, the price is actually pretty good.

Either way the price isn't OMFG horrible, but it's probably not the best price you'll find either....just keep in mind the best price isn't always the best deal, make sure the gear you are buying has a good warranty and a competent installer.

Brands I've had good luck with over the years:

Astrostart (Astroflex), Compustar, DEI, Crimestopper, Scytek...brands I've had problems with Bulldog, Audiovox, Ungo, AutoCommand (Designtech), anything sold at walmart/kmart.

I've been doing autostarts for 14 years professionally and have personally installed well over 2000 units in that time, so I hope I don't just sound like some no-it-all-newbie to this forum as I am seriously trying to provide insight.

I just had a MARS-22 Omega 3rd party remote start added to my new 2006 Murano. The installer had difficulty getting the ignition to work properly and had to re-install the unit. He mentioned it was avery tough installation. He ony installed the start function since I already have the intellikey. It works great now but it has only been installed for two days. As for the price, I would not know. I had the dealer add it to my purchase price.

Does anyone know if the functionality of the locks are limited on the remote start due to the intellikey?

Secondly, does anyone know f there is an ipod interface available for the Bose radio that plays mp3. It does not state satellite on the front of the radio

Ive only been installing 'professionally' for about 5-6 years, but one thing Ive learned is that the system is only as good as its installer.

Ive never had any major problems with Bulldog, Designtech (Which is now owned by DEI I believe), Ungo, AutoCommand, and Im surprised you said Audiovox because I install these daily. Its got to be one of the most simplest systems to install.

IMO, Id run with the factory remote start systems. Though it might cost you a pretty penny, you'll always have the dealers warranty. Rather than having it installed at a shop and risking the chance of them messing something up thus voiding your warranty... just my 2 cents though
