I am having a remote starter installed in a newly purchased 2007 G35x ($800.00). Dealer then offered, for another $400.00, an option that extends the range of the remote starter to around 800 feet (mentioned installing an antenna). Has anyone had one of these "extended remote starters" installed and as what cost (I don't trust the price quote given by the salesperson!)?

I went to the dealer on saturday and asked how much for the remote starter for my 2007 G35x and they said it would cost $1,000. The dealer stated that it's a comlex install.

My brother had the remote starter installed in his 2006 G35x at a dealer for $550. I think dealer was some where in Queens, NY.

According to two Long Island Infiniti dealers (both with M's), the cost for a remote starter for an '07 G35x is $800.00. Since the '06 G35x doesn't have a keyless start-up, the cost for one is considerably less. Has anyone heard of an install that extends the range for the keyless remote starter?

OK Guys here's how it goes. I have done remote starters on 07 M Infiniti, 07 G35 Infiniti, and 07 Altima ALL WITH PUSH BUTTON STARTS. The dealer is correct by stating it is a difficult install. Depending on who does it as far as I know there are 2 different ways of doing them. I did 2 for and Infiniti Dealer in Fairfield, CT who screwed me on a timely payment. Anyway the G is the most difficult of the 3. Why I don't know. Also the dealer likes to keep everything looking as Stock as possilbe so keeping the factory keyfab is what they like. As far as charging $400 more for extended range, that is a plain rip off. I charge $500-$600 for the install with ALL the parts and if it is extended range or not the price is the same. We are talking about $40 the most for the antenna and remotes. Anyway NO KEYFAB should have to be given up, ALL functions of the factory security is kept, warranty from me is LIFETIME for the Remote Starter, Keyfabs, and Installation. ONLY 1 YEAR WARRANTY on the transponder bypass. This also comunicates to the car computer but is made in Canada so that is the reason for only 1 year warranty. The cost to replace and reprogram is around $95. I have yet for one to go bad. If anyone is interested in us doing the work send an email to xxx or call xxx. Keep in mind that the install will take all day so you will most likely drop of the car and pick it up the next day. Hope I helped with this....

What are you trying to say here. If it made in China it would be life time warranty?

BTW what is the company's name who makes that unit?

So sorry about that. I was trying to help. Lots of people in many different forums that we are affiliated in just get fed up with the dealers. But like you said rules are rules. Sorry to have broken them. I meant no dis-respect or harm to anyone here in the forum.

SAD SAD SAD SAD but true. The items I use are mostly from China, Taiwan, and other places, but YES they have or carry lifetime warranties. At least my stuff always had. MOST of the time but not all of the time there is no problem. But as we all know, read or saw on TV more than 70% of rejected items sold in the US are from China. I have plugged in remote starters and seen them smoke up in my hands before ever using them. Bad out of the box. But the american company who is the Manufacture ( or so they say) replaces them for free and in some instances tells me over the phone to toss them and they will send new. The piece you are looking for is a CanSl2i. NOT FOR THE DO-IT-YOURSELF INSTALLER!!! This takes professional installers 2-4 hours depending on the vehicle. Hope this helps.....

AH, After market Remote starters, a device designed to cause serious electronics and vehicle problems driving the guy who didn't install it nuts when the car gets towed in for no start condition.

Shops should charge a $500 penalty fee before they agree to work on one.

Aftermarket or "FACTORY" remote starter systems are 90% the same. Unless you get that option straight from the manufacture it is the same. An option from the dealer that carried the mfg logo on the remote is almost always not factory product. Especially if it is an "add-on installed at the dealer". I have removed so many Ford alarms and remote starters out of vehicles that have been "installed" at the dealer. This is just Code product. There certainly are instances that the device itself is the problem. However 99% of the time it is the installer. Some should stay away installations when they have no idea what they are doing. Also people should also keep in mind that at least 90% of mechanics are NOT aftermaket installers nor do they have the know how to fix the problem in most cases. If this was NOT true dealerships from our area wouldn't be calling us to repair stuff that others installed. Factory or not.

The reason they call aftermarket companies to fix your problems is because we do not get payed to fix it. Why would I waste my time trying to fix this crap that was cut into a perfectly good harness, for free? It's no longer my problem when the sales department has an agreement with some company to install something like that. The product may be wanted by the customer but it's not the "complexity" of your systems that makes us unwilling or unable top fix it, it's the fact that it's not a factory defect when your product causes a parasitic draw of .200A and kills the customers battery or the car will not start.

I really don't thing remote start is something you need unless it is really hot (like florida) or really cold like alaska or canada

Can you even get one of these on a 6MT?

I do not believe they are available for a 6MT and I wouldn't want one even if they were.

NJ is often hotter in the summer than Florida and in nice weather I tilt open my sunroof. My AC cools off the vehicle in a few minutes. In 10 degree winter weather the heater warms the car in less than 5 min so I can drive in a short sleeve shirt.

IMHO a remote start is not only a big waste of money but can become a huge hassle when things go wrong.

Heaven forbid we should experience a degree of discomfort for a few minutes. To many Americans having to shift is a huge hassle?

They can make it for M/T. Not all of the companies doing it but it is possible. They install something in it to make sure it is not in gear. I think.

before you get conned, you really do not need to have a remote starter installed by a dealer unless you think $1000 is worth while, I doubt they are going to cover you anyways if they screw up something, you probably go thru the same hassle with a good reputable shop and something does go wrong after the install, they will set you str8 but with some hassle.. so why pay $400 more?

For canadians near GTA best place is Lockdown. US, no idea. But there are basically 2 options really. Compustar Pro 9000 with a module from some company whose name I forget. That runs $600 to $700 installed. Another option is to keep existing remote they install a range extender or something and work it such that when you press unlock or lock or something on our remote it starts the car, I heard this was possible. $400 for range extender is bull****. Compustar comes with quite a long range check the website out.

How far do u need to start the car anyways......
