Hey all! I'm hoping one of you fellow pathfinder owners can help me out. I noticed that when I start the vehicle the climate control isn't turned on. I have it on when I turn off the vehicle but when I turn off the vehicle and back on the climate control doesn't come back on. Instead of getting heat I get cold air out of the vents until I turn climate control on.

I also noticed that when I do turn on climate control the A/C always turns on. It's the middle of Winter here in Minnesota and I don't need A/C. Not sure if it even matters if that's on or not.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong? I was hoping maybe there was a setting somewhere for keeping climate control on but so far i haven't found it. I have a remote starter installed and this is a problem since the inside doesn't get warmed up.

Thanks,
Shay

Most of the people on here have R50 Pathfinders and will be of little help to you (myself included). Although I can tell you that your A/C is on all the time to act as a dehumidifier so your windows don't get fogged up. The R50's had an "Econ" button to turn it off. Thats all I can say...

+1 on the above...not sure on non R50 Pathfinders but knowing Nissan, you should still have an Auto or Econ button on your climate control. Using the Econ prevents the AC condensor from coming on and that's what I always use. I never had problems with condensation so seems silly to have AC and heat running together. As for it turning back off, it's possible the design was changed but IDK

My 98 QX4 won't let the fan turn on full until the engine is warm. I have the auto climate control though. I can manualy turn the fan up.

Wait a sec, when the climate control is set to "Auto" the A/C is on even when the heat is all the way up? I thought that was just when the temperature was set lower. That's crazy! How much gas does that consume? So if I'm trying to get the best gas mileage I should switch that thing to "Econ"?

Yep. I found that out this year too. It doesn't add cool air to the mix but it does get the moisture out of the air. I've been running on Econ all winter so far. Not much of a difference though.
