Is it possible to put a remote start system in my SR? I also have a turbo timer. Would that make a difference?

its illegal (in CA at least) to get remote start for a manual transmission. You can do it, but it would be illegal and dangerous if you leave your car in gear when u park it. and no teh turbo timer doesnt make a difference

hahaha....i can see it now, you walk up to your car one day and you push your little button and the car takes off. that would be freakin funny.

I wonder why people even leave their car in gear?? They don't trust their e-brakes?

Oh and yeah, you can have a remote start in your car with an SR and with a Turbo timer. My buddy has that setup.

force of habit. I dunno, I always have left the car in whatever gear it was in last, usually reverse or first. I know I would leave it in gear soemtime by accident, and screw the car up, or I would put remote start in.

hey 240 trainee...want to buy a ecu? i have one for your ca18det. remaps the fueling, changes the ignition timing, removes the speedlimiter, removes the rev-limiter and removes the boost-limit (fuel cut)

when my remote start was in i loved to put it in gear and start it when the parking lot was empty. and then it was fun to pretend that your car was remote controlled. i picked a girl up with it once. the car was in front of us about 30 feet away, and no one was in the parking lot and there were no curbs. so i was like "watch this" and started it up, and it drove right to me and i shut it off right in front of her. she was soo amazed when it drove up to her. but it is very dangerous to do.

Mods and admins don't look to kindly to stuff like this. Keep it to the BST forums.

i know its a old thread, but you can get a template that goes around the shifter, and if its in gear it will not let the car start. if you ask around, you can find a shop willing to do it.

Sorry to bring an old thread to life but... I just got an alarm with remote start on it and I have a 5 speed. When I park my car I ALWAYS leave it in neutral with the e-brake on. So remote start shouldnt be an issue for me should it? I can start it without it crashing into a brick wall.

yes, don't always trust your ebrake when parked on an incline. Personally, I always leave it in first if i'm slightly parked uphill, or reverse when parked downhill (looking down).

I also leave it in first on a flat ground just in case.
