Doc: "No, not another remote start thread! Use the Search button noob"

Actually, my question is for those who have the remote start through the dealership. After you remote started your vehicle and when you go inside the car, do you have to press the Start button again? In a non Ikey remote start, you have to turn the ignition again once you are in the car, so I was wondering do you have to do that with your A/C or do you just depress the brake and put it in R/D and start driving.

LOL.... from my understanding, it works just like the aftermarket ones... thing is.. there's TWO ways to hook it up... one way you must turn the car off and then on again... the second way, you just get in and go.... there aren't too many people on here that have the dealer add on... Ican go through at least 10 reasons on why you should just ghet an aftermarket one rather than one from the dealer using your factory key fob!

1. I have no expensive sound system/head unit/nav (no need for remote pager)2. I park my car inside the closed garage3. I drive my A/C straight home-work-home4. I park my A/C right outside of my window of corner office building5. Short distance from my office to the A/C, no need for 1-mile range6. I can see/hear the car from inside the office so no need for display confirmation7. I want as few things in my pocket as possible, don't want another remote starter bulge, people would start thinking I have a pen15 implant 8. I want the OEM look with the key fob9. I'd rather have the dealership work on it rather than a shop since they "might" have installed many remote starts on other Nissan/AC also10. Not many shops have installed remote starts on Ikey vehicles (A/C specifically since the wiring/color is a little bit different from sedan also), don't want my A/C to be a guinea pig

Both after-market and dealer-installed remote starter will cost you about $600-700.

there's 10 reasons why one SHOULDN'T get an afermarket one... one thing that you didn't mention is the dealer rapage factor..

My local install shop is gonna do a quality name brand remote start with 2 way pager alarm system in Daniel's car (BlackNWhite) for $449, installed, out the door.... that's about the cheapest name brand install from a shop that has worked on A/C 's before that I have ever heard of!

The biggest problem with the factory system is... well.. the factory system... the factory alarm is a joke! Open the door, pop the hood, disconnect the battery, and go to work!

for remote start purposes, if all 10 scenarios mentioned above fit your needs, then that would be the only way i would waste money getting the dealer installed option... but just like the factory navigation, I could never bring myself to pay more for something that is less in every way possible!

And that's without giving up my spare keyfob!

Hey Rob. You didn't text me what range I'm gonna get. Since I ain't getting the exact one you got... do I still get a mile? Or is it half a mile or so?

Lol!

Yup, I was just hooked up by BOSS here with the RS1000 alarm. It is tooooo sick.

I had no idea it had an auto door lock and unlock function. That's something the A/C was really missing! Turn on the ignition, and in a few seconds the doors lock. Turn it off, and they immediately unlock.

I didn't get the remote start though... I just can't justify it in CA.

I agree Vlad, there really is no need for remote start if you live in Cali... but I'll be in Baltimore this time next year ... so I put it on mine... also, the Kenwood 8120 takes a while to start up, so I like my music playing for me as soon as I open the car door...

Vlad, there's a number of features on the remote that you may not have even tried yet... you can change the name on the remote, change the car color, check the status of the alarm, triggered zones, etc... it really is an amazing alarm!

man i wish i knew a good shop over here in jersey that can do this for me, auto door lock/unlock, remote starter, pager alarm, the distance of the pager/remote start and my keyfob intact, all of it sounds like heaven, i'm just super clueless as to what to gather together to put this in motion, and it all starts with the SHOP..
