Ok so I have a Viper 791 alarm installed on my 97 240sx. Everything seems to be working except that when the remote start is used to start the car the starter will continue to run. The only thing that shuts it off is when I release the e- brake. The e-brake is tied into the system as the neutral safety because it is a 5 speed. I have checked tach signal, learned tach signal verified, checked the settings to make sure it was for tach check and also changed the crank time none of which makes a difference. Any ideas what I need to do? Please please help this is the only thing holding me up on a long awaited project. Thank you.

That's strange that it would do that with a learned tach signal. Maybe try moving it to an injector, relearning it, and seeing if anything changes? Also, I would recommend going to the neutral safety switch instead of the parking brake.

Well made the changes as suggested, but still getting the same result, cars starts and starter continues to spin, I did verify tach signal learned again and also tried changing to reading voltage settings instead of tach, same result. So whre do I go from here, thanks very much for your help

Have you tried starting the car by key and doing the remote start take over and seeing what happens?

Just start the car by the key then activate the remote start the same as you normally would and then you shuld be able to remove the key. ANd if it still keeps just cranking then you've either got the wrong wire hooked up to the starter wire or you've got a bad unit. When you say it keeps grinding is that indefinitely or it keeps grinding for just a little bit? And you're positive tach was learned correctly right? You held the valet switch until the led lit up?

Yes I have learned the tach correctly and verified several times. When the remote start is used to start the car the starter does not actually grind but rather continues to to spin(whining noise) indefinitely. When I had the neutral safety switch hooked up to the e-brake, if I would put the e-brake down then it would stop the starter from continueing to spin. I have since then moved the alarm neutral safety switch to be tied into the neutral safety switch on the car so I can no longer can stop the starter from continuing to spin it will just run and run and run. Thanks again.

Did you hook up the brake wire? That will stop it from trying to start if it is. I'm not quite sure what is going on, but I'll see what I can dig up.

Most likely a starter wire and ignition wire would be my guess. Did you meter the wires or just listen to a guide you had online?
