Hey guys,
Has anyone put in an aftermarket remote start or alarm? I got a good deal on a Python 991 and going to install it when it gets a little warmer.

Any tricks i need to know for the J30? I am also looking into controlling the windows and defroster from the aux outputs on the system.

Thanks Guys!

Nice J!

Some people have installed a remote starter in the past and its been a real PITA wiring exercise.

Yeah, wiring a remote start/alarm isnt for the faint of heart.

Before I begin with my aftermarket system I need to fix a problem I have been having:

When locking the passenger door with the remote or the electronic switch, the lock handle moves to the locked position, but does not engage the lock. The only way I can lock the passenger door is if I manually lock the passenger door and then use the clicker.

What do you think I am dealing with, maybe needing a new locking mechanism? Maybe just need to grease some things? What do you j30 guys think?

I think what you may need is either (a.) door lock latch assembly or (b.) door lock actuator or both. They both fail with age.

I think its the actuator, the locking mechanism is still fully functional. Think I may have to go to the junk yard :)
