A week ago I had remote start/keyless entry installed on my 92 Q, with horn beep confirmation, for about $250. I have to say, its the best thing I ever bought.
Not only does it preserve my door locks and keep them from being overused, but it also makes entry much faster. Just hit the button as I'm walking to the car.
More importantly, remote start allows the car time to warm up. When youre in a hurry, its easy to forget to sit and idle for a few minutes before taking off for school. In warm weather, it gives the interior a chance to cool down, so none of that damaging back sweat harms the leather.
In all, its a good investment. I make a habit now of hitting the remote start button as part of my morning routine, to allow 5-10 minutes for warm-up, usually while eating breakfast or brushing teeth. Or towards the end of my shift at work I'll start it up.
