We ordered our Versa & asked if we could get remote car start put on it from the factory & they said no but they can recommend Curcit City to install one.IS this true? I thought you could get factory remote car starters on these? Does anyone know if the transmission has any sort of nuetral switch built into it that you can tie into electrically??

I know you can get an aftermarket system put in that would involve a few things. When you get to your destination, you put the car in neutral and press a button inside the car. You then remove your keys, get out, and shut all the doors. You then arm the car which shutdown the engine. If any door have been opened since the car was initally opened, remote start won't work. That's just one system that I've seen in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if Nissan won't allow remote start on the manuals. Think of all the lawsuits from vehicles lurching forward because the neutral switch failed.

I know people who have remote start systems on manual cars, so it can certainly be done.Just make sure you're careful. I've heard some bad stories about people who use the remote starter with the car in gear...

exactly, be careful. I had remote start on my Accord it was a 5spd. you have to make sure that when you remote start it that you did leave it in gear the last time you drove it. besides the owners manual on our car recommends you not to leave it in gear when you have it parked anyway.

Yeah I know about the dumb set ups where you turn the starter module on before you get out & all of that. I put a few of those in,..they are a PITA & you usually never remeber to set it before you get out.Funny story on this. I put a regular remote car starter in our (me & my wife's) 96 Pathfinder once. Just told my wife to make sure she parks it in nuetral. Well, one day a buddy of mienis over visiting & I'm like "Hey watch THIS!" I push the button & the thing starts up & starts driving down my parking area,..which if you don't stop leads to a 10' drop off. I'm friecking out pushing the button like 100 times & it just keeps chugging along. Luckily it was in 2wd & got hung up on a small snow bank at the end of the parking area. I unwired the remote started until I found a way to wire it up though the nuetral switch in the transmission.
