yeah, your installer is incompetent... he obviously had never installed a remote start on a push button vehicle first. I recall my installer asking me which way I wanted it to be setup, the way you describe it (DEI specifically says to NOT install it like this) or the right way.khisanthax wrote:Hey folks, I got a remote start installed, viper 5901, the only thing is that when after using the remote start pushing the ignition button won't change from lock to acc to on so I can put the car into drive. Instead I have to turn the car off and then back on. The installer said he's going to dei and ask if there's a solution to this.
Has anyone been successful in doing this?
khisanthax wrote:Yeah, that's my luck I get stuck with someone who doesn't know what they're doing. Do you remember the name of the place or have the phone number/business card? If I can get in touch with them maybe I can get my "installer" to get in touch with them too.
seriously, you may need to go to another shop.... the programming would be nearly identical for installing a remote start system on any 4th gen altima, whether its an 07, 08, or 09... much of that wiring is exactly the same. Also, being that the Altimas come out one model year in advance (i.e. 08 altimas are released in 07) the 09's have been out since late last year, I'm sure DEI has information released on this... you're taking a risk leting this guy install this in your car dude! you need to take it to someone that knows what the heck they are doing... my shop has installed remote start systems on at least 8 Nissan Altimas with push start (08 and 09), all are working fine without the issues you speak of... its not the car, its not DEI, its your installerkhisanthax wrote:Well, my car is an 09 altima, has it been out that long already?
I called him up today and he said he spoke to DEI who also said that there's no way around the push button ignition yet.
Anyone else here have an 09 altima with the remote start working fine?
yeah, i feel you... its not your fault dude... and to be honest, the fiox is really no that difficult... if the guy knew what he was doing.... seriously, I'll try to find my buddy here in San diego that is hands down the best alarm installer in the city... this guy knows the wiring codes/colors of most vehicles by memory, and can install alarms in his sleep! If you give me the number to your shop, I'll see if my guy can give him a call, and he could walk your installer through the process better than even DEI could (trust me, he's that good)khisanthax wrote:half the problem is that it's already installed and paid for. But you're right, i'm going to go call around and see if someone can fix this mistake. I hate when this non-sense happens.
+1 for the Doc. He knows his stuff.rjdmmfl1 wrote:

naww, I just know more than the average consumer... my custom guys know their stuff... and this alarm guy I'm talking about... I mean he does custom stuff also, but his knowledge regarding alarms is pretty much unparalleled compared to anyone else I've ever met!Ricko wrote:
