Someone else mentioned this recently and now it has happened to me. My remote has completely stopped functioning. Nothing. Dead as a door nail. I'm thinking it maybe weather related. would that be possible?

I have had this happen on my 95Q and the solution was to reprogram it - with a new battery as well. Don't know if this will work for you.

Got the bright idea to consult the service manual. Problem solved. It said to press the lock button before reinstalling the battery. The car would then buzz twice as function resumed. It worked. The manual is paying for itself. :) I never had this situation before, though. Strange.

I just had the same thing happen to me. Replaced the battery and used your technique. To show how dense I can be at times, I sat in the car and pressed the lock button on the door handle. Thought that was odd. Finally dawned on me to do it on the remote. Worked perfect. Don't think I'll DIY the timing chain right now ... LOL.Does it annoy anyone else that for a luxury car, the remote sure is a cheap-*** piece of ugly plastic. You think they could have upscaled it a bit.
