It's getting cold in ny now. The last few mornings my remote won't work, and I have to put my key in the slot to start. In the evening 3 out of 5 days I had no issues. One of my co workers said he had the issue a couple times. Is this the sensor or the remote du to the cold causing this? No I haven't changed the battery yet, just checking before I run to radio shack.

I was going to say that batteries can lose up to 50% of power in cold temps, but I assume you don't store your remote outdoors and your home has heat, LOL. I agree it's best to replace the battery first, as you planned. It's entirely possible that the battery in the remote going titz-up and doesn't have enough power to work consistently.
