I just figured out that I have had my two remotes for over 10 years, and I don't know if the remotes were updated in 2000 when I bought my 97' but can they really last that long?? I guess they can!! I have noticed one of my remotes is getting weaker (less range).....any advantage to replacing them before they die? Is there any other option besides the stealership to reprogram with new batts?

No need to reprogram when changing the battery. It's really the car that's programmed to the remote, not the other way around, so there's nothing to be forgotten when removing the remote battery. Just pick up a CR2032 (I think...I could be remembering wrong) and pop it in.

Ive had the same remote for a few years, and unplugged the battery a couple times... Ive never had to reprogram the remote, so I wouldnt worry about it.
