d!ck's has the Remington 700 ADL in Stainless Steel for $449.

The verified stores are:

Brandon, FL
Lutz, FL
Lakeland, FL

The calibers the Brandon store has in stock are:
243
308
270
30-06

This is the predecessor to the SPS and doesn't show on the Remington site anymore. It has the "upgraded" trigger, the X Mark Pro, that eliminates the safety issue.

To make this deal even sweeter there is even a d!ck's gift card of $20(MIR) for purchasing over $400 worth of Remington products.

There is a $100 rebate from Remington, but the ADL is not on the list, but all other 700s are. I am going to send it that rebate anyways because I've really got nothing to lose on that. I highly doubt it'll be accepted, but hey, it's worth a shot, right?

This was in the local weekly advertisement, I am not sure if this is nationwide.

If you're looking for a rugged hunting gun this is a great deal!

LOL. I thought he only used his car for killing small animals. :)

Maybe that's the standard practice, but what if the animal is sitting on his car? That's when a high-speed projectile comes in handy.

Very true, or perhaps a baseball bat...

No, I have never been hunting. I am a benchrest shooter.

With this ADL SS though I may move into the woods this year or next.

I typically shoot my Marlin 243 on the bench. I'm currently working up a load of H4831 pushing a Speer 85g SPBT. I'm at .43" 3 shot groups at 100 yards. Using a front bi-pod and shoulder on the butt. Trying to get it a little tight then that... Factory 100gr Remington Core-Lokts shot ~.75" groups, and this is a 1:10 twist barrel, so it shouldn't even be shooting 100gr bullets...

I'm rusty on Remingtons (I own a 1937 Targetmaster) but if you're planning to hunt with a Remington, wouldn't a BDL (with a drop plate) be better an ADL ?

The BDL and ADL are pretty much the same except for aesthetics, the drop plate, and about $200.

I have no issue with unloading the magazine by running the cartridges through the chamber. And there are some people that believe that the drop plate decreases the strength of the stock.

I'm picking up a 308 with 24" barrel tomorrow. 1:10 twist. I'll probably end up loading ~168gr A-Maxs or Nosler Partitions for it. Depends on what the gun likes, but with this twist rate and the speeds I'm looking at a 160~180gr should be perfect out to longer ranges.

god Hard Target was awesome...

John Woo didn't do much for actual good movies in the states though..

that's a nice price for a stainless steel 700.

I'd wager Remington prices will be dropping soon as they've had few big recalls that'll make the public leery to buy from them.

I know the Remington 700 is popular despite it's publicized trigger problems, have you thought about Savage 110(?) nice bolt action rifle?

Excellent suggestion.

I have a Marlin XS7 in 243. It's about the same price as the Savage.

The reason for me getting the ADL is that it is as Stainless/Synthetic combo. I absolutely hate Stainless/wood combos. They look great, but the wood defeats the durability of the stainless. I want a gun that could potentially be used as a club or a canoe paddle and keep on going!

best bang for the buck on Rifles right now would probably be a Tikka T3 or a HOWA/Weatherby Vanguard. Very nice rifles out of the box.

the Marlin M7's are nice too though.

The next rifle I wanna get will either be a battle rifle (probably an AR or maybe a Sig 556, they dropped in price pretty damn big recently) or a Marlin 1895 Guide Gun.

I've been looking at SS 1895s in 45-70. Such a sexy caliber when loaded hot. Beats out the 444 and 450.

My buddy had a Howa. Either it was us or the gun, but the best we could do was 1.5" with three shots out of a cold barrel.

My Marlin is under an inch with standard Core-Lokts.

I went to the range yesterday to site in the 700 and my 336(put peeps on it). The 700 grouped nicely with 180gr core-lokts. A little over an inch. I'll have to work up a load for it to bring that down.

THe marlin like the 43gr of H4831 pushing a Speer 85gr SPBT. Out of a clean barrel I shot a .75" group with two touching. This is with a book stated OAL of 2.625. I need to measure the distance to the lands so I can minimize the jump. This should tighten up that group a bit.

That's easy. Go camp somewhere and drink beer. Wake up in morning tired as hell way too early and go sit in the woods by a tree. Sleep by said tree maybe you will see a deer at some point if so shoot it. If not repeat as needed. This works for me at least, well except I never see the deer because I am sleeping. But I have fun camping at least.

You can trip over deer here, it's really more how to dress one and how to hunt safely that I'm most concerned with.

I just want to eat them. I paid $36 for Venison on Saturday night at La Ferme in Bethesda, I want to make my own, lol.

If I had a way to get it to you I would send you some I have a ton in my freezer. There are videos out there on the dressing aspect of it. I bet there is a place that offers a hunters safety class near you as well. Just dont' be one of the idiots that drinks beer while hunting that is just asking for trouble.

dressing one kinda sucks.

the trick is to try like hell not to cut the stomach or intestines open. It really helps if you make a good clean shot on it.

as for the safety aspect, it's mostly common sense, just be aware of what you're shooting and what's around and beyond the target.
