State governments are often drowning in paperwork. Similar thing happened to me...had to respond to a ticket within 60 days, but it wouldn't show up in the computer, even though "it takes 2-3 weeks typically." So the day before the expiration, I had to take off from work, drive my azz down to the DMV and wait in line to pay a freaking $25 seatbelt ticket that I should have been able to pay over the phone or online. It cost me more in missed work than the fine itself. So really, the state made less than $25, cause I don't pay taxes on income I don't get. L.A. has its head pretty far up its azz sometimes. Maybe the ticket is lost, but the question is, do you want to take that chance? Consider that if it ever does make its way to the right person, and into the "system," you might automatically have an arrest warrant attached to your name, so the next time you get pulled over, you might be in for a nasty surprise. Maybe, maybe not. When you finally get to speak to a human being, I will bet he/she can't tell you any more than what you already know. He/she will be sitting at some computer terminal, looking at the exact same database you're tapping into, and they will tell you they can't do anything till it gets into the system. That was another hour of my life wasted...repeatedly logging into the system, and being on hold waiting to talk to someone who's job I had already done.
