Remanufactured crankshaft, opinions?

Basically what the tittle says, My big end bearings have failed or are about to, tomorrow I am gonna drop the oil pan and check the severity of the damage, basically it starts to make contact(sound) around 3k rpms to 4k under full throttle so maybe its still early enough and I could get away with a polish but i doubt it

anyways to keep it short I live in Puerto Rico its a pretty small island, I can't find a local ca18 or ca16 crank or block or anything related so my options are reman crank, get a used crankshaft from you guys or ebay or take it to a local machine shop which there is a high chance they will screw something up(If its not a rotary there is a big chance for a screw up), I had a talon tsi awd before this and when i was building my spare engine I took it to my local machine shop and basically they gave me the 7 bolt rod bearings on a 6 bolt crank(different rod journal diameter) and when the assembly would not rotate on my engine stand they said it was my fault lol

Crankshaft grinding is pretty simple engine work. They'll need the bearings and rods to grind it properly. If you're that worried about their work though, it might be better to get a new crank. Reman'ed cranks are usually cranks that have been ground down to fit undersized bearings.

Oh I see, I never knew that reman crank were basically oem cranks just worked over like you said, Well I guess I'm gonna give it a shot with my current crankshaft and ask around what is the best machine shop in my area if this doesn't work out I'm just gonna buy a new oem crank :cry:

A ground stock crank is just as good as a untouched one if not better.
It depends on the quality of the job from the person who performs the grinding ofcourse, but i belive that most people operating a crankshaft grinder knows what they are doing.
Atleast they should!
It should not be necessary to make them grind it after your bearings/rods, there are specified measurements to go after when grinding a crankshaft.

Thats good to know, well I dropped the Oil pan from underneath the car and it was pain to do, Bearings still had material and the crank looked good used my nail to feel any grooves and it was smooth it does look like it needs a polish. There was no play in the circular motion that the rod moves but front to back of the engine there was excesive play which is probably what I was hearing, How is this even fixable :/
