This is for anybody curious whether or not they should do these "mods", just to show they're really very easy.
i desoldered the stock potentiometer and ran wire through the holes on the circuit board... make sure you remember which pin went where from the pot. Its pretty self explanatory, just extend the wiring 20" and tape up. Drill a hole in the bottom of your white plastic cluster shrouding and run it through.
Hook your car up to something that gives the RPM, or if you already know the base resistance you need, you can adjust it with a multimeter. Set it and FORGET IT!!! (tuck it away)
Quest alternator on left, rb25 on right... you need to take the expansion ring out of one of the mounting holes on your RB bracket and swap it over (replace the ring) on the Quest mounting hole. Then drill out the other hole to the same ID... looked like 3/8".
You need to grind down the stock spacer about 3/16" or so... if you grind too much it won't hurt anything, just don't get to the hole.
you need a bolt about 1" longer than stock.. You dont have to use metric because long metrics are hard to come by.. just get a 3/8 coarse thread bolt and a nut. You may need to cut the bolt a bit shorter, just field fit it and washer it up/cut to size.
The bracket needs to be tackwelded in place... you can also bend the metal to make a bracket, but bending helps fatigue steel if its not very ductile. I use 3/16" steel for my bracket. I can get the dimensions later.
