New to the forum but been researching an sr20 swap for quite some time -

Already know about Heavy Throttle and most likely going to order from them. Just wondering if there are any other RELIABLE options?

Anyone ever heard of/dealt with a guy by the name of Luke in Pittsburgh? He is offering up the following - The S13 SR20 swaps I sell include the: engine w/all attached components, trans, ECU, CAS, MAFS, mounts, engine fan, PS and A/C pumps, complete harness, etc. Also included is a compression test and a 60 day warranty. The complete wiring harness will be provided, but will be cut. It is only cut in one place, at the firewall. Re-attaching the harness is as simple as matching up the wires (about 20 of them). The ignitor chip is not included. The bracket is.

Is Heavy Throttle worth another $800 plus a four week wait? Or is this guy another rip off story waiting to be told?

Thanks

I cant tell you about that guy, but i can tell you Daunttless one of the Moderators here owns http://www.afterdark-tuning.com and he has better prices than Heavy Throttle. I plan i getting mine through him when i get the cash. And as far as i've read on his site it includes most everything attached. check it out for yourself

Dude.

Cut harnesses are like the first no-no of an SR20 swap. Wiring sucks as it is, and you wanna resolder a GANG of wires back together? There are more than 20 wires, I can tell you that. And I guess you don't really need that ignitor chip. That is, if you don't want your car to start. It WILL NOT start without the ignitor chip. The ignitor bracket is useless, you don't use anything on it other than the ignitor chip.

Adding this guy to my running tally of unreliable people.

It might be good for someone who already has an SR, but not for a full changeover.

Get from one of those if you want a good engine.

BuudWeizErr ,

Thanks for the reply. However you didn't tell me anything I don't already know.

I said I would most likely go with Heavy Throttle so why are you adding them to the list like I have never heard of them? And so far no one has received a motor from after-dark, and even though I point out that I don't want to wait 4 weeks for heavy throttle you tell me to use a source that has never shipped a motor (no disrespect to dauntless, I have read the threads and understand the situation. I beleive its only because he wants to provide the HIGHEST quality motors that he is having such a hard time. If he wanted to sell junk I am sure he could have had a bunch of motors here already) I wasn't asking "Dude, should I like buy this cut harness and no ingniter set-up and totally expect it to drop right in and be easier than a full setup?" I was asking if anyone had experience with this individual or could recommend someone OTHER than heavy throttle to supply a motor on the EAST COAST. I realize what a pain soldering can be, and I also know that there are other sources/alternatives for the ingniter. Those weren't my questions. Next time put the can of Bud down and read the post you are replying to before ripping off a half *** reply. I realize I am new here but its people like you just regurgitating what they read on forums rather than adding any new input that have ruined most of the good sites out there. Why don't you ask the guy you paid to do your swap where he got the motor from, maybe he can add some original content. Sorry to come off like such an ***, but maybe I am one.
