Hi,

I'm about to purchase a high mileage 1997 Qx4 with 144k miles. The price is good and the car seems to be mechanically fine. What should I look out for? How many miles will these QX4 last? thanks.

My parents have a 1998 QX4 with around 90k miles and haven't had any problems.

I own a 2001 QX4 with 40k miles on it. Both have been bulletproof. Basically, it all depends on the car (how many owners, if they took care of it, weather of where the car was located, maintence, etc...).

If it was well taken care of, the only thing I would worry about would be oil leaks and trany problems.

I personally would never buy a car over 50k miles, it's just not worth the hassle for me. If I have to get a car that is over 50k miles, it's a car I can't afford.

Hope this helps.

The QX4 is a Consumer Report's Best Used Car pick, however with a mileage as high as yours and depending on how the truck was maintained, there is little doubt that you will have to invest some coin into the truck to replace worn out items and keep it running correctly .
