I've been looking at rims for a long while now. and every set I find either doesn't fit or is no longer produced. However I found some Tenzo's I liked and then read that their reliability isn't too good. and if I am making the investment of spending $1500-$2000 on rims I don't want them to crap out on me.

Now since the Advan RS are a "little" out of my price range I found these Petrol Octanes. They are running about $300 each for 19x8, or $350 for 20x9 (tires are a different story).

Since they only come in a painted silver, I was going to have them powder coated bronze w/ a flat black lip(maybe), but I haven't read much about this company, does anybody know how well this company's rims are compared to some of the name brands out there (ASA,BBK,Konig...)

Thanks for your help

Honestly Rob, you can name 5 wheel makers and all 5 wheels are probably made in the same factory. With today's technology, there's really no difference betwwen one wheel make to another wheel maker in it's class My last couple sets of wheels have been Sport Max, now know as XXR, and I love them. I've never had a problem. What you need to do is make an assessment:

1. Purpose of wheels ( auto crossing, show, drifting)

After you decide the purpose, then the question of money comes in. How much do you want to spend? Once that's established, the question of style is next, then tires, and so on untill the wheel is mounted on the car.

So ask your self the purpose and go from there..

Thing is, I don't know much about rims. I don't know which ones are lighter than others, which ones are made for: show, drifting, autox...

I'm starting this on a blank slate of knowledge. This is my first car and have learned a lot already from DIY and this forum as well.

I don't plan to do much track racing but it would be fun, a lot of rims I have found are weighed at about 20lbs which seems pretty good since the stock 2.5s seem around 25-27, and with a 3in increase i'm happy with that weight

overall these rims are mostly going to be for show, I'm looking to spend $1500-$2500, Mostly it's the 5,7 and 10 spoke rims that have caught my eye, I do want a lip on the rim but it doesn't have to be huge.

Some sets that I am looking at:Advan RSPetrol OctaneTenzoR DC5 ver1TSW Nogaro

I'm leaning towards 19" but if 20's will save me a couple hundred then i'll go with 20

Thanks for your feedback

I would go with the Tenzos. Good price for the quality. I think you'll be just fine. I gotta agree with what Dangeris said. Half the price of the rims that you're buying is the name.

A shop near my house in La Puente sells Tenzos for cheap. I only find the DC5 in 18".

Advan RS all the way! I am bias though but at the sametime you won't regret getting them. These are baller and rare wheels and worth every penny.

The Advan RS 19x9 +29 is 19lbs when I weighed them, which is good for the size, width, and offset! Oh and the price, quality, and looks of course too! Only downside is the wait time.
