im looking into buying a 300zx as my first car... most likely will be a 90 or a 91 because i only have like 5000 to spend on the car... with those funds i dont expect to get a perfect car... but 300zx's are like my dream cars and i want to prove everyone wrong when they tell me that i cant get a 300zx... so im looking at a 300zx with about 140,000 or 150,000 miles on it (unless i find a better deal which is rare) and some kid said they werent reliable cars... i didnt necessarily belive that but it did make me start thinking.. anyone have a 300zx with high mileage? any advice would help... thanks.

I bought my Z with 121k miles back when I was 16, and now I am 19 and my Z has 155k miles.

The 300ZX is a sports car, so if you want it to be reliable, you have to take care of it. If you don't take care of her, she will break down on you a lot. Just make sure that when you are looking to buy a Z that you make sure it has been taken care of.

Also, have some money stashed away, or a way to get money in a pinch because stuff will go wrong on a higher mileage sports car.

my 91 TT had 204k on the clock, they are reliable, if you maintain them, but as with anything things wear out in time, the fuel pump is a common and expensive problem, but it's only a common problem on the 100k plus cars, kinda rare for lower miles cars to have many problems, the fewer miles you have the less wear the parts have seen the longer they will last but nothing lasts forever

You can easily find a Z with that mileage for a lower price, look a little harder. If all else fails, try and find someone with an auction liscence. But then again you don't know what your getting yourself into.
