so how much mileage have ur sr20det's seen since the swap?

im planning on doing the conversion this summer, and will use the car on the east coast (that means the car's gonna have to start and run in the snow/sleet/hail as well as be able to drive cross country 4-5x)

what problems have you guys encountered; what should i prep before the long journey?

etc etc

thanks a lot,D

It's a very reliable motor, there isn't much to prep for besides regular maintenance. So long as you take care of it it's pretty solid.

Damn man, i dunno, but i think there are much better options for cross country driving...and much more comfortable also...get a nice reliable Altima or something, with comfortable seats, cruise control, a/c, and stereo : )

sorry that wasnt what u were looking for, but i wouldnt want to drive my car accross the country even once

With proper maintenance and care almost any engine can last a long time Turbo or not.

I don't see any issues witha cross country drive as long as everything is in order beforehand.

Im just sayin, that anoying humm of a big exhaust, and uncomfortable s13 seats, dont really make a cross country drive all that pleasing

Agreed it won't be the most comfortable ride but it the car can handle the trip.

I heard many stories of bad SR. Sambara's SR for example. Most of the motors we get here were probably abused somewhat before they are sent to us.

Also, stuff like water pumps and oil pumps. do they just die all in a sudden? Do those things need replcaments often?

yeah the s13 seats suck. but that can be fixed. other than that only issue id see would be noise and possibly ride quality if you have upgraded springs/shocks

yah is the sr20 a reliable engine for 300 to 350 WHP without changing internals for a daily driver?

I bought an S13 redtop front clip and have been going through the engine. So far all that I've HAD to replace are bearings and washers for the bottom end. They were worn to the point where I wasn't going to try to put 100k+ miles on them. Other than that the rest of the engine is in pretty good shape, and even the turbo is in excellent condition.

I'm in Ottawa Canada, we get snow! I completed my SR swap on Jan 3rd, I've done 9,000km's since including two road rallies. Driven it every day, all conditions. Haven't had a single problem.
