That's crazy, I get almost 23mpg and only drive short distances everywhere. I didn't know about the seal drains, is there anything we can do about that to prevent it?mrodrig2 wrote:I have quite a few small annoyances:1) Wind noise/rattling from passenger side windshield that the dealer won't fix.2) Rattling from something in the headliner right above passenger side vanity mirror.3) Lesser than rated gas-mileage (I have a stock 2.5, drive 90% highway @ 70-75mph and get 19-23 mpg)4) Windshield gets chipped easily - 2 chips in 3.5 months!5) A/C turns on when you push recirculation or defroster6) No door sill or trunk seal drains! Water sits there and eventually its going to rust.
I still love the car though. My only regret is that I didn't get the 3.5.
3 - sounds like something is up, or you floor it all the time. get that checked out.4 - my dad has the same problem - i think it's just bad luck with driving a lot of highway.5 - that's normal for any car. defroster removes humidity, and recirc is designed to cool the car off as much as possible.mrodrig2 wrote:I have quite a few small annoyances:1) Wind noise/rattling from passenger side windshield that the dealer won't fix.2) Rattling from something in the headliner right above passenger side vanity mirror.3) Lesser than rated gas-mileage (I have a stock 2.5, drive 90% highway @ 70-75mph and get 19-23 mpg)4) Windshield gets chipped easily - 2 chips in 3.5 months!5) A/C turns on when you push recirculation or defroster6) No door sill or trunk seal drains! Do you have anymore details about this? I hear squeaks/rattles there too. It is so hard in this car to track these sources down! Any help would be appreciated.alt.coupe28 wrote:
2. rattling noises in the ceiling (finally got it fixed last saturday by the dealership. (they fixed all the velcro or whatever it was).
other than that, i love my coupe!
The mileage estimates are, I believe, based on a constant 50 MPH under ideal conditions - it is nearly impossible to equal them. A 2.5 will start to drink fuel quickly at 75 MPH. Likewise if you accelerate hard to get there.mrodrig2 wrote:3) Lesser than rated gas-mileage (I have a stock 2.5, drive 90% highway @ 70-75mph and get 19-23 mpg)
Find a passenger with a good ear. While you drive, they squirm all over to pinpoint the noise source. That's how I've always done it anyway.mpbclutch33 wrote:I hear squeaks/rattles there too. It is so hard in this car to track these sources down! Any help would be appreciated.
Dude there must be something wrong with your car if you're getting the MPG with a 2.5 . I have a 3.5 do heavy spirited driving at times and still get better MPG than most people have posted. I get 20-23 MPG in the city and 27-36 MPG on the highway at speeds of 70-85MPH. Believe it or not I do and I love my car for everything including that.mrodrig2 wrote:My highest MPG over a full tank and only doing my normal route was 24mpg using cruise control as much as possible. Speed varied from 65-75 in order to maintain distance from cars in front of me. Accelerating to cruising speeds shouldnt be a big deal for me since I only do it once per trip - I get on the highway, accelerate to cruising speed, then get off the highway. Both my apt and work are next to the highway.
I still stand by my post. Any of these problems come up, you should have no problems getting them repaired under warranty. I would have to say that some of us got the bad cars of the flock. I know I didn't . You can and might be another lucky A/C owner that gets no problems.Mr.Coupe wrote:I would say test drive all of them. Go through them thoroughly and see what works, fits and satisfies all your needs. That is my opinion. The rest is up to you.
