Need to replace fuel filter on 94' Q45t. How do you perform "Fuel Pressure Release" before removing fuel filter?

Is the following correct procedure?-Remove fuel pump fuse and start engine-After engine stalls, crank engine a couple of times

Thanks

Also leave the gas cap off. Pressure will build up if cap is left on.

Yep, you could also pull the fuse while the car is running. If the car has been sitting overnight, it might have not much pressure in the lines but it is better to do the procedure for GP.

I had no idea replacing fuel filter was going to be this hard. I thought loosening the clamps were the hard part (very hard to get to them), but after loosening them I had no luck pooling the fuel hoses off the filter. I decided to put the clamps back on and don't take the risk of damaging the hoses. Is there an easy way of taking the hoses off the old filter without damaging them?

Although my hoses seemed somewhat soft and flexible, carefully splitting them with a knife was the only way I found to remove them. Of course I was replacing them so it did not matter.

I manhandled my fuel hoses when I was replacing the filter, no damage. Though not recommended... If your fuel hoses are too old to be abused a bit, you should probably just replace them. Grippy gloves and some careful twisting of the ends and voila.

Nadir - don't give up!

I have had some success twisting the fuel line with a pair of plyers while holding the filter. Once the seal is broken, it will usually come off. Sometimes you can pry it off with a flat blade screwdriver too. Either way, it's a pain... Worst case you spend $45 for some new fuel hose, but you really want to protect your injectors and fuel pump with a fresh filter every year or so... Especially with your crappy fuel conditions.
