I am gonna be upgrading to HIDs very soon for both my low and high beams and I keep hearing mixed opinions of whether or not i need a relay harness for them.

If HIDs use less energy than halogen bulbs why do you need a relay harness? Do i need a harness for both my highs and lows or will one work for both?

Also i was going to get 5000k but im not sure if i would want to try 6000k later on down the road. What would i need other than the bulbs to change to 6000k? what about going from 6000k to 5000k?

Thanks

I think it takes a lot of energy to power up the lights, which is why its a good idea to have the lights drawing the power directly from the battery and not though the stock wiring harness.

As far as HIDs for high beams, not the greatest idea in the world. HIDs aren't really made to be flicked on and off very often like high beams would.

To change the bulb color all you need to do is change the bulb. A ballast works for any bulb type.

I have 6000k for my low beams and I love them. A nice bit of a blue hue to them, and definitely still output more light then stock halogens. Remeber the higher the bulb temperature the less useful light. But I would go with 6000k if i were you. . .

Well I drive on a lot of back roads with no street lights at night so I'm not usually flicking them on and off a lot which is why I wanted to get it for my highbeams too.

Thanks but I just ordered some yesterday.. And are you running HIDs on your highbeams too or just your lows? I was getting mixed opinions on getting a relay harness so I just ordered one just in case. Would one harness work for both or would I need to get a second one for my highs? If I even needed one at all anyway.
