When I'm in park and I press the brake, there is a clicking sound coming from the gear shift area. I've never heard it before. Is something breaking or a dying relay?

Also, this is very strange. When the car is at temperature and I press the brake pedal there is a very slight ticktickticktickticking sound that fades away slowly. If i press the pedal lower I get the slight ticking sound again. If I let off the brake pedal all together I get the ticking sound as well. This is in park, neutral, and drive. Any ideas what this could be

for the first one, i believe that is your brake light switch going on. might be a little annoying, but nothing will explode. i hear it on two of our three cars. as for the second sound, i honestly have no idea.

The first sound (relay clicking noise) is the shift release. It's the device that keeps the shift lever and button locked unless you have your foot on the brake while in park.

Not sure what the second sound is...Where does the sound seem to be coming from?
