My name is Andrew, im 28. I bought my z a little over 5 years ago. its a 1992 charcoal grey 2+2 and I bought with 75k on it. I paid 8500. the interior was about 8.5-9 with no major tears and the exterior about the same. no major dents/ scratches paint pealing ect. i know i over paid a bit but i searched for a Z for 3 years looking for the right Z . this was the best one i found in the best condition. first thing I did was the 60k maintenance and power steering assembly and a tune up . all was done at a nissan dealer ship. I know i could have gotten a tt for the same price but im glad I didnt. but i cant complain , the car drives great. plus i didnt know a damn thing about these cars and after reading NICO for 5 plus years know much more than before, so know when I go looking a TT I have a lot more to go on and what to look for. :yesnod

the day i first laid on her

part two.

So as everyone knows once you get the modding bug it hard to stop. so my plan with this car was to make it my own but make it look like it came from the factory . So to date, pop charger, custom sub box, custom truck lining. Specialty Z cat back. alpine cd player, 4 6.5 alpine interior speakers. MA audio amp/ 12 inch sub. clear corners and tail markers. replaced old third brake light. im getting JDM tail lights soon plus tints. I also have a shaftmaster one piece aluminum DS in garage along with powertrix CO just gitting in a box. :frown:

on to some pics
first attempt with my box

second box

so then thats when i realized that the trunk carpet was sh1t.

this was made by using the old carpet as a stencil and made from 3/8 ply cover with foam and black vinyl
then i covered the rear speakers with the same material

thats about it, and a couple more just to finish it off

these were taken right after i bought my house. and this is where she is resting now in my garage in vt

Nice interior work. No rear speakers? Not that I'm opposed to that method, just want to be sure :)

Where did you get the vinyl trim?

there are rear speakers. 6.5. bought the brackets off ebay for 12 bucks. and its actually doesnt vibrate the vinyl covering to where you can hear it.

all the vinyl was bought at marshells fabric store. i think i paid a couple bucks a square foot. i think it was about 60 bucks to cover everything i needed.

I like the ash grey exterior. And again, very clean look for the rear. :dblthumb:

IMHO I'd check out PartsExpress.com or some other audio parts place and just get some charcoal grill mesh. You're really stifling the speakers with vinyl over them.

Good lookin ride regardless, well done.

Very nice car Andrew, you did well to wait for your NA.
I also bought an NA first (2003) and wasn't intending to ever own a TT, but just as you say after a few years reading here I knew exactly what to look for, and now own a very nice TT (late 2011) for the money I spent.
Stick with your plan, you'll be very happy!

You're losing all the treble and most of the mid-range with the vinyl covering the rear speakers.

Just FYI.

I love VT. :)

I never would have considered laying on a car as part of the purchasing process....I wonder what the salesman must have been thinking.
