So i got my rims on friday, and bent both rims on the right side on saturday night.

There is a huge square on the entire right side of the road on a busy single lane road...no avoiding it!i personally think its ridiculous since my 17 yr old self has already paid thousands in taxes and the roads arent well maintained in northern virginia

I heard of people getting reimbursed for their bent rims b.c of an unmaintained road

I was just wondering what steps i should take in order to do so.

PS: ill have pics when i get home...and ill take a pic of the huge hole in the road.

It does happen. Contact your local DOT. It may be wise to take pictures of the hole "just in case"

I know up here in Trash, er I mean Ashtabula County the city will reimburse flat tires and wheel damage if caused by a pothole in city limits (Ashtabula) ...well they did last year anyway...and believe it or not people actually got reimbursed...time date and street, and receipt of repair although I don't know of anyone trying to get more thana few hundred bucks.

LBC, IIRC the NYSDOT is not the people to go for, its the counties/townships. If its a state road (parkway etc etc) then it might be state business. I know a few people that successfully were reimbursed from the town

You should complain to the manufacturer of the rims. Rims should be able to take some abuse and the fact that you had them such a short time could indicate bad metal. (I went through 5 rims on my Eclipse!!) Did you charge them? Some credit cards carry insurance on purchases.

I don't get it. how can you choose the profile of your tire if u have to match up with stock specs?

you cant....thats the thing.....unless u get bigger tires and eliminate all the space in the wheel well...but then u have to recalibrate the odometer to measure it to the new size of the overall wheel..but ive never heard of anyone doing that

so here is an update ....i received this email yesterday

Dear Mr. Saad:

I received your letter regarding your vehicle damage you incurred while driving on Old Dominion Drive towards Great Falls, VA.

Fairfax Maintenance is not the responsible office. By copy of this e-mail to Mr. Bill Fox, contractor of Fairfax Permits, we are requesting that he initiate an investigation and take the appropriate steps to address the concerns expressed in your letter.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Should you require any additional information in this regard, please contact Mr. Fox at **********

Sincerely,

Cynthia Mercer

so that was nice to hear a response again.....

On my way to school this morning i received a call from Mr. Bill Fox

what he told me made my day

He said that the utility cut in the road was a Washington Gas cut and they will contact me within a few days. If they don't satisfy my request for full reimbursement then im supposed to call Mr. Fox at VDOT and inform him. He said if they don't satisfy me, then VDOT will take them to court and will stop doing business with Washington Gas. And in the end the courts will force Washington Gas to reimburse me in full

So today was a good day.

Every road in Hawaii is like that road you described. I've had more close calls than I can count. Part of the reason why I have meaty tires.

haha how did i know you would be the first to see this

did a rim of yours get bent due to a pothole? just google NYDOT and find somewhere you can complain...my first complaint was in a stupid "Questions? Comments?" Box

the NYSDOT has it easier actually they have a section for damage claimshttps://www.nysdot.gov/portal/...t-DOT
