Can the built in cell phone microphone and the speaker system in a 1998 Q45 be used to provide a hands free set up for a regular cell phone?

I just purchase a 1998 Q45t and it was prewired for a cell phone. I checked past post and there did not seem to be any discuss on the phone set up for the 1998 Q.

I do not know about the 1998 year - but the earlier 90-96 Q has many threads and discussions on this topic. Do an archived search ... you may find something of value that applies in your case!

Thanks for your response, but as I mentioned I did check the past post and there was one thread relating to the first and second generation Qs, but nothing relating to a 1998.

Technology changes fast. I was hoping my generation of Q might be set up to work with a modern cell phone. Thanks again.

I had noted that you had searched! Good.

FWIW, there have been more than one thread, but, regardless, you are correct that there was no talk of 1998 model years.

I am not certain, unfortunately. I do not have the 1998 Service Manuals to go look and see either ...

Yes, in 1998, digital cellular handsets were available, but I am not sure what Infiniti was doing with the wiring and whether it was available in the car. You might want to download the Service Manual for your model year (from http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/infiniti) and take a look at the schematics.
