Registration?

Does anyone have any idea how much it should cost to switch over a title, I am looking at buying a 240sx fastback. I dont have to register the car If I am not driving it ATM, correct? I just have to pay a fee for the title transfer? Anyone in cali remember how much it was?

i paid $2500 for my car but i told the guy to write down $1500 so the tax would be cheaper. it was $120ish for the tax + $30 to register the car.

i paid $2500 for mine... wrote down $500 i think. forgot how much was it... but it was under 2 bills

Does like everyone ask the seller to write one for the price they paid and then one for less? I've done it a couple times....why pay all that tax, when you don't have to.

i bought a car from this lawyer guy and he said he couldnt put less on the title, so i had to pay full tax. i was quite peeved. so i had to pay like 300 in taxes arrrgh.

oh well then it would be no problem for me to register a car next week. My dad was talking like it would be expensive to register, hah. Now I just need to find a way to get my money from my bank account to buy a hatch

It was $18 to get my title transferred...and I haven't registered or anything yet...what you mean "write down..."

You get people to write one receipt for what you paid for the vehicle, then another one for considerably less to show the DMV, so you pay less taxes. Kind of illegal, but ya know.
