I agree iowa isnt the greatest place...but its certainly not a ****-hole just because you did some poor planning and failed to realize you couldnt register a foreign car that wasnt built to meet US emissions and safety regulations.

ahh but it does meet both saftey and emmisions standards. just still isnt legal because it was never crash and DOT tested even though it is almost exactly like the s13 coupe...

ha... 6500 dollars... i got it for more than that. his reserve wasn't even close to that. if you saw it on ebay then what color was it.

i don't like iowa cuz of regulations. its boring as hell here and no one in this hilbilly state knows much about imports. Except for u ppl in cedar falls. but i live 4 hrs from there.

I will get it registered as a kit car or rebuilder.

I really didn't want the hassle of buying a sh!tty 240sx coupe for 1g, plus buy a front clip 2-5g's, new paint 1-2g's, and a **** load of work that i can't do because of my garage limitations. And it still wouldn't be the real JDM Silvia. No badges etc. so tack on another 1g for that......extra s***

If u don't like it stick it.. but i'm not going to diss your sil=eighty conversion or whatever you have.. it is just fine. I LUV JDM and that is why i bought it..

Well if the person who was interested in buying it made a decent offer I would go for it, then talk to daunttless about importing and legalizing one. Then nomatter where you go you will have a legal car.

yeah. ugh .. this car was bought last dec. around the the 20th. it is tan with grey bottom. it came from cali. and shipping from there was 900 bux because of the recent gas prices. the motor came out of the car, and i had someone in gardena ca. put that in and get it running. so there is another extra charge.. so lets just say i spent real close to 10g. about what u would after buying a sh!tty 240sx coupe, a front clip that is in decent shape, new paint, tons of tools i would need, and tons of extra stuff. I sold a 99 civic si for this, and glad i did.. really wasn't looking to penny pinch to get something half fake like a 240sx converted to a silvia.

Most people dont put SR20 into 240sx to try to make it a silvia. Its not about being fake. Its about speed. Is the 240SS just a fake chevy?

u don't get it man.. It's called JDM Silvia.. I'm a big fan. ok.I like going fast too. but i also want the real thing. I could sell it for a decent offer and buy one from daunttless. I'm sure it would cost a pretty penny for one legalized by him.

how can you make a 240 a half fake silvia? would it be half made out of cardboard with silvia written all over it in markers? When im done with my car with will be just as much of a silvia as the one you bought.

Ok maybe it wont be as silviaish as yours but i have to avoid bad legal situations where i live...

not as much as it would cost to get one through MotoRex. The smart thing to do would be to sell this one to someone who doesnt want it as a legal daily driver, and get the money together for a legal car through daunttless.

yeah I talked to daunttless today.. sounds kind of expensive. and it is to get one legally that way. he said it would cost 6 grand just to get the correct paper work to mine legally registered here with a vin #. paper work starts in japan. I'll get it registered here . i have the title and ownership doc. i'll get it registered as a kit car or rebuilder. don't worry.

Im not worried. Im just reminding you theres a right way to do something, and theres a half assed way. If possible you should always do it the right way. Anyway good luck getting it registered. If youre gonna keep it might as well drop some money making it fast.

don't worry.. i've planned on doing lots of stuff to it. Not so much cosmetically on the outside. but i'll get a front mount, bov, different turbo, clutch kit, pump, rail, inj, fuel management sys, etc.

For the cost it's not really worth importing unless you want it as a "novelty" to have a "real" silvia. Good luck with everything. Enjoy your day!

Yes exactly. I wanted a REAL Silvia. RHD, the seats the carpet the fold away mirrors, the jdm k's spoiler, sr20det, the whole nine yards. i wasn't interested in buying a ****ty 240sx and looking for 4 yrs to piece together a complete JDM Silvia. I personally do not have lots of time on my hands or a very good garage to work in. i'm renting not owning. if i owned, i'd buy the necessary equip to do ****. ie engine hoist etc.

i wish i knew about daunttless before i bought the car. i didn't know he had a shop in cedar rapids. i've looked for shops in minneapolis, des moines, etc. and no one does imports around my area.
