Registering in Cali

Ok so my neighbor gave me an 89 240sx because it was sitting in his backyard and he had no time to work on it. Before i began working on it I went and got the vehicles record and was told i would only have to pay 180 to register it. So now months later im finally done, i started it and everything but when i went to back to get it registered they were charging me 380... now note that this was not from the DMV this was from a guy that was going to take care of everything in order to register the car. Due to the high price i decided to go to the DMV and see how much they would charge me, they said they would only charge me the 180 but i would have to find the owner and get his signature and drivers license number, apparently my neighbor never transferred the car to his name. So they give me the guys name but i cant get a hold of him. There were some papers in the car with a number, but when i called they said that the guy doesn't live there anymore. So my question is.... do you guys know any other way of getting this car registered? I dont wanna pay the 300 some odd dollars to that guy if all its gonna cost me is 180 at the DMV... any ideas???

Yeah I know the area. I live over on Central and Compton, About a mile west of Compton High.

I have 1993 s13 hatch. With fx45 projector headlights modified into my headlight housings.

Are there any street races on Florence?

Not that you want to be racing in the street , but not that I know of. They have them Wednesday nights on Compton and Broadway. I'm not sure if they still have them on Santa Fe by Del Amo.

that was from Boyz n the Hood. Don't worry I'm afraid to drive through Compton. Even driving 35, people still might steal my rims.

theres a decent meet on Sunday nights on Broadway from Compton to Rosecrans... Cops usually break it up pretty quick though.... Just a bunch of ppl driving through and stuff...
