Someone very close to me is selling a swapped coupe for a good price. The only catch is that it's registered in Texas. It did say on the DMV website that you needed a DMV official to inspect it, but is this the same as having a Ref look at it?

Would they be the kind of people to know what an SR20 is and that it should not be in my vehicle?

Thanks.

An SR20det will not pass inspection in anyt state. If you are buying a Texas car and you want to register it in CA then do it. Nothing at all tough about it. Call DMV, for they are the people to ask DMV related questions...

I know it won't pass inspection in any state, which is why I asked if they would be the kind of people to recognize an SR.

yes, do to the fact you will have to get it smogged. the tech will most likely(if he's any good) tell its not the right motor. he'll send you to BAR, or fail you. if you get sent to bar, they'll laugh, say nice try, then fail you
