Post

Hey Everyone,

I'm posting this message for my girlfriend who recently purchased a 2006 350Z touring convertable. She's really been enjoying herself with it, and recently started thinking about making some minor modifications, to make her car look a little more unique. So the first question is about tires and or rims. What sizes should we be looking at? I read the faq at the top of the page and it suggests the 19inches for looks but 17 for preformance..and the 18s for somewhere in between. I beleive she has 19inch wheels..so does this mean she can go into any body shop..pick out a set of rims she likes slap em on the car..get the alignment and be done with it? Or is there more to this? What other concerns should she have and how much should she expect to pay for nice looking wheels? Forgive me..but I'm a complete novice at this.

As for the second question, the car comes equiped with a BOSE system which we are quiet happy with, but the head unit doesn;t have any place to hook up an MP3 player directly, or an XM or Sirrius radio. She's seen some of the units that Best buy/circuit city etc has to offer but isn;t sure how these will effect her 6 disc changer and overall playablity. Is this just another one of those things we should go to the dealer for? Or can we get fancy with this and get a nice looking unit..something a little more intresting then the stock. Again what should we be on the look out for?

Thank you for any help..please bear in mind we are both complete novices at this. I guess you can say my girlfriend is looking for a car that looks nice...but doesn;t need to have 400 hp or anything...the stock performance is fine for her.

Good questions -

I'm pretty sure the new Z still has 18's, but I could be wrong.

It's not hard to check, look at the tire size on the sidewall - it will read something like "255/40ZR19" The last number is the wheel diameter.

Many people put 20's on a Z, but I think you'll be happier with 19's.

Z requires a "staggered" setup, which means the rear wheel is wider than the front.

Click on the TireRack ad here on NICO and you can SEE your car with various wheels on it, AND they have the correct offsets, widths and tire choices for you.

No need for an alignment after changing wheels / tires.

Regarding the Bose system, I believe the 06 has the capacity for adding an iPod or similar device - Check with the dealer.

Welcome aboard, glad to have another droptop Z owner!!!
