when switching from regular oil to synthetic is there anything special I should do? or know? thinking mobil 5w30. 2000 I30 67,000 miles.

Do a search... and you'll find a variety of suggestions.

I suggest doing an enrivolution or bilstein machine-flush ($70-$150), then doing the switch. At 67k on regular oil, there's bound to be a slight bit of sludge built up anyway.

Most Nissan and Infiniti dealers can do this kind of flush. Also, be sure to check Toyota dealers. Jiffy Lube used to do a $70-$80 Bilstein flush but recently changed to the Gumout chemical flush, which isn't so safe from stories I've read.
