So I was driving home from my SAT today, and I was seeing a lot of what we call rice, on the freeway. And as I sat there in disgust, I thought to myself... whoa, isnt this kinda bad? Bad that I hate rice? I mean, the owners of these riced out civics, and such, thats their taste! Its their preference to have that "ricer" look and feel. And so what if they dont have enough power to get out of their own way. Its ok, so long as the driver of the car doesnt delusionally think so. See, the way I figure it is, so long as the driver of the rice, doesnt act like he can take on anything and everything with ease, that is, have a cocky attitude, then he/she should be respected as a car enthusiast. We here at the 240 forums, love to poke fun at ricers and such, but thats not really ok, it just builds a reputation for us that is not a positive one. Its a reputation for being jerks, and snobs, cause we think our KA's and SR's are so high and mighty (and in most cases they are ). I dont know about you but, I dont want that kinda rep. I want to be known as a 240 driver who respects all other drivers, until they act like losers by carrying an attitude. So the point of this whole spiel? Well there is none, as I said, its a reflection. And no, Im not saying that the honda jokes should stop (cause there is a lot of people out there that carry an attitude, which is what the jokes are about). Just remember, they are drivers, who love their cars too.

the issue with ricers is that the majority of them think that their body kit equal better performance. I know quite a few people who have done many visual upgrades to their cars and know that the car is slow, but that type of person is few and far between. The majority of the group has unfortunately cast a negative shadow on visual upgrades

This is true, however, like you said, there are some that exist that dont believe that body-kit = more power, so for the sake of those guys, we should keep an unbiast attitude, until they pull up next and wanna impress, at which point we decimate.

you are heading in the right direction.good.

this is what i do when i see an ugly carnothing.

it does not matter to me what car somebody drives. i find it dissapointing and dull when i see threads everyday dedicated to posting flaws in som person's car. "ohhh this car has an ugly bodykit and cheap products inside." WHO CARES. can people just not accept the fact that there are cars on the road that are different?

sure i find many cars to be ugly and wasteful, but it doesn't bother me. there are far more important things to worry about.

thank you.

they're like stupid people, and we're smart people. they just need to be educated instead of teased.

i admit that i can't help but choke down my distaste of certain visual upgrades. i've seen many tastefully done body kits, but i see so much bad rice it makes me sick.

Also, why would anyone display that they have APC parts on their car??

To many, getting a car to "look" fast in their eyes is better/easier than having it actually be fast.

There's also money, if all those ricers out there had lots of money, their car would most likely be quicker and better looking.

Its easy for them to give in to the immediate gratification of buying 3 dollar racing decals, 20 dollar spinner hubcaps or 100 dollar aluminum wings. The difference is we're patient or at least know where our priorities lie.

I TRY to give everyone a chance. and i have met some cool kids with stupid mods. I met a guy with a Suzuki something or other with custom lambo doors on the front (4-door). He didnt care about fast all he cared about was the HOURS of work it took to adapt the lambo kit for an integra to his car. THAT is cool.

You can only have a POS D16 civic with 4thugs try to race you down a heavy trafficed road full of stoplights so many times before you just write them all off. You think that because my car looks ****ty and has an exhaust its on the same level as yours? Please.

I can fully understand the pride one takes in doing a custom fab job. Adapting parts to a car is not easy work. Just wiring in a simple set of OEM power mirrors to my car took a good 6 hours. That included dissassembly, harness creation, mounting, and reassembly. Nobody notices it, nor do they care that the car wasn't even intended to have power mirrors, but I get to have the pride of doing such a project.

Ricers are bad because they think performance will suddenly be increased a hundred-fold by bolt-ons and body kits. So for the most part they just don't know any better. However, there are people who build their cars for show, that isn't rice, that's their taste. For example, a kid I know that has a RX-8 with intake/exhaust and a body kit. He has a nice car, but doesn't know how to drive it (got a 15.9 in the 1/4 mi), whenever he drives by, he always peels out, tries to look cool and pretty much sucks my c*** b/c I have a SR. He's a good guy, but IMO he's a ricer. On the other hand, my friend has a gorgeous 2nd gen Eclipse GS, I think his car looks awesome, but he keeps complaining about how slow it is, so now he's saving up to get a turbo kit. That's not rice. He built a car for looks, wasn't satisfied with performance, now wants to do something about it. Being a ricer isn't about what car you have or what you do with your car, it's an attitude and how you present yourself.

But there are people out there that, and i know this is going to be hard for some of you to beleive, DONT CARE ABOUT SPEED.these guys don't go racing at the strip, they use their cars mostly to get from work to home to whatever else. Some people don't want to brake into 12 or even 15. thats not their priorities. They want a cool paint job, with nice wheels (whatever THEY like) and that is fine with me.As long as they move out of the way when Im flying down the highway.

Different strokes for different folks.

Just because you like things one way, doens't mean everyone has to or does.
