Being a new member here, here is my first contribution. I know most of you are 4th genners but maybe some of the 3rd genners here will find this useful.

Anyway, I haven't actually seen any pictures that point out the flaws in the S5 grill. So here I am. I test fitted my S5 grill (taking it to the body shop tomorrow to get it painted) and took some pictures for reference. Here is what you can expect when you get your grill.

The mounting holes are off center, the entire grill is mounted too much to the driver's side. There is a HUGE gap between the bumper and the grille on the passenger side because of the misaligned mounting holesThe grill does not quite match the hood's curve but not really a big deal.

I know it looks horrible, but I played around with it a little and its fixable. You'll just need to file the holes a little...and trim the edge at the top.

So there you go. I'll update the thread with pictures of it when its painted and intalled correctly.

there really is no "correctly" to this grill if you ask me. i'd have sent it back already instead of toying with it to make it look halfway decent. the downward curve matches nothing with the curve of the bumper and will never be true to the car. it looks like they molded that thing off a snap shot from a prototype off nissan.com i really can't see it worth your time because of the str8 lines and little curve, but we'll see the final results if you post um.sorry for being a hard ***, but that's just my take

Hey no problem. I got a deal on the grill. I've already gotten this far so I might as well make the most of it. I think it'll look good after I get it painted it modified to line up like it should.

I guess besides it not fitting at all, why would you want to show off your A/C condenser and hood latch mechanism?? Is there anything else to this "grill" or is it just an outline-type molding?

Wow thats very iffy.

Darius, mesh is mounted on the backside of the grille to finish it off.

AHHH okay that looks pretty clean then! I would agree with the others and send the piece back and have them give you one that has better mounting points.

I didn't buy it from them. Its a second hand grill. The guy I bought it from had just sold his Altima and he never got the chance to install it. I only paid half the price that I would've paid if I got it straight from Active Tuning.

Its not big deal, since I got it for a good deal and I'm a DIY kind of guy. Shouldn't be too hard fix the mounting holes.

There is an "s5 clone grill" on ebay. If anyone is insterested in this type of grill, I would recommend that one instead. Some members at Nissan Club have the clone grill and it actually fits much better.

I got the grill fitted today. Here are some pictures.

If you look closely, I had to cut a chunk of the grille off, just so it would clear the clip.

The grill also refuses to stick to the bumper snugly. I will try adding a piece of metal to sandwich the bumper with the grille. The clip doesn't grab very well without metal. If that fails, I will just use some of that tar strip.

As you can see here, the hood latch just barely clears the grill. If you have fat fingers, it may be a little difficult to unlatch the hood. This can be easily fixed with a file.

The following pictures show how horribly drilled the original holes where. Here are my corrections.

That is all for now. It should off to the body shop next week. More updates later.

Here it is, after the paint job and mesh.

Here's how the glue is applied

Nismo emblem, double stick taped and reinforced with hot glue

final product

Mounted on the car (i'll have better picture after i wash and wax my car)

Final fitment, hood overhang is minimal

hey adidas are you going to fill in your lower grille or keep it like it is? Also were you thinking about keeping it clean or putting on an emblem?

Thanks for all the comments!

Here's a picture I took with my phone (my sig picture).

The "sound barrier" as my friend described it, is actually a pretty wicked lens flare.

Ill see what Stillen comes up with for the lower grill. Im not to big on fabrication so i wouldn't feel comfortable just throwing anything in there. I will not be putting the emblem back on. I love the way it looks without it.
