redtop vs blacktop

can anyone help explain to me the main difference between the red top sr and the black top.. i was told the blacktop has more power and someone said its smoother because it has a ball bearing turbo and thats all i have ever really been told, are there any other main differences?

th black top was built later on in the production of the sr20... s13's had red tops, s14, s15 had blacktops

Search it's been covered a million times.blacktop has a t28 and slightly bigger injectors so it has a little more horsepower stock

from what i've read, and wikipedia backs it up, they have the same size injectors and same turbo. it's the s14/s15 blacktops that have different turbos, but all have same injector size. to be honest, the only difference i've found through experience is whether its a bottom mount or top mount manifold. there might be other differences, but none that i've really come across, but i haven't spent much time on this subject.

S13 has a red top and a black top.S14/S15 has a Notch top.

I prefer the S13 intake manifold design.
