Hi there,We just finished a redtop sr in a 95 S14 and itrunsfine, but need somehelp from you experienced srguys , we have replaced thermostat and it will overheat for somereason, we checked hoses and radiator is fine, it does it slowly and we are scared to drive anymore . It seems to not build any pressure and even it gets hot you can take the cap off, but no spewing or pressure.

any ideas or help would greatly be appreciated.

He already replaced the thermostat. Have you changed the Coolant temp sensor that goes to the ECU?

cts wont cause it to overheat. the cooling system is purely mechanical. make sure youve got it bled of air very well, you can try removing the thermostat and see if it continues to overheat

If you think you are overheating because the temp gauge in the gauge cluster is spiking then there could be one of two problems.

1) There is a chance that air was not fully bled out of the coolant system. Hence one of the reasons why there is no coolant spewing out of the radiator when it is hot and the cap is off.

2) The S13 and S14 coolant temp sensors (single pin sensor) give off different signals. If you installed an S13 SR into an S14 you MUST take the temp sensor out of the S14 KA and put it in the S13 SR (it will fit, trust me). If you didnt do this then do it before anything else.

Oh yeah and top off the coolant.

we actually tried it without the thermostat, that did not help, did a compression test got all good numbers same across board, concern of head gasket , but very puzzling!!! we do not know what else to try. tried bleeding for air,

Thanks for all of the help. I changed the sensor and my gauge no longer spikes any more, its holding right about mid way. Im still a little puzzled because i've bled and bled the system and it still doesn't hold pressure. You can run the car constantly for an hour and pull the radiator cap and it won't spew. I've already replaced the thermostat, cap, hoses. We have done 2 compression checks and is 140 across the board. one thing that I was wondering is about the heater hoses in the back of the motor. I made sure that there was no kinks or any thing. I heard that the s13sr20det motor into an s14 chassis would require me to remove the valve in the back going into the firewall for the heater core. Is this true or does it even matter. Please help!!!!!!!!
