Finally have the cash to do up my SR20DET Build. Got a hold of a Short block, and Complete head with coil packs. Bought a IACV, Q45 ignitor chip, coil pack cover. I'm waiting on buying the rest of the odds and ends till i'm ready to drop it in the 240sx.

I'm building this engine from scratch, I do not have a JDM swap rather piecing everything together including the actual castings using Nicoclub, SR20Forum, and Ebay. I'll post parts I need here in the future if anyone has something feel free to send me a email at [email protected]

Heres a parts list of stuff I got for the engine so far.

Complete S13 Redtop head with valve cover and coil packsComplete S13 Short block with Crank, covers and oil pan

Aftermarket Upgrade Parts Short Block: CP 9.0:1 pistons Eagle H Beams w/arp2000 bolts ACL Race Rod and Main Bearings with ACL thrust washer set 1.2 x 87mm Cometic Head Gasket OEM Gasket set ARP Main StudsARP Head Studs

Valve Train: HKS Step 1 cams (256 Intake 10.5mm lift, 264 Exhaust 10.5mm lift) BC spring titanium retainer kit SI Stainless steel blk nitride valves SI Manganese Bronze guides Tucker Valve seat inserts Stainless steel rocker arm stops

I'm getting the block on the engine stand tonight and going to chase all the threads, clean it up and torque down my main caps with my ARP Main studs. Then the block will be ready for the machine shop.

Does anyone have a good machine shop they would like to reccomend to do a block blueprint That has a Torque plate. I'm looking at buying a torque plate myself, having a couple blocks machined with it and selling the plate when i'm done with it.

Anyone that wants to share some words of wisdom thats what this thread is all about.

Thanks

The Holy Grail of SR20DET Machining, BHJ Torque Plate!!!!

Just bought a Q45 90MM Throttle body the otherday, and found a Thermostat housing and heater pipe. Made a few calls and I decided to buy a BHJ Torque plate!!! I'll get some pictures up asap

Disassembled my cylinder head and installed Bronze guides and reamed them out. They are rated for 10,000 RPM. Brining it up to my brother to have the rest of the machine work done. Will have the head built by next week and then have the block machined out and assemble it.

Have a set of new one piece stainless steel valves that are swirl polished and black nitrided.

Has anyone had a set of split fire coil packs? are they worth the money, does it have any horse power show up on a dyno? does it make the engine more reliable?

The head is in the machine shop right now. I got some custom made valve seats for it since the factory ones were pretty much gone when i got the head. If anyone needs seats i can get you a set of 8 intakes and 8 exhaust for $150 shipped.

I've wondered about this too, if they really make a difference that is.

for $400 one would hope they help control pre ignition/detonation. It be nice to hear some feed back on the topic. the build is going good. Just getting some details together before i bring the block to the machine shop. The head is already there, it needed Valve seats which are a hard to find item, and the sr20det has a differnt O.D. than the usdm sr20de which kinda sucks but oh well.

I don't have any specific numbers but a member on this board recently added Splitfire coils to his setup and he had good things to say here : zer...age=4

Are you putting the pistons and everything yourself or is the shop doing it?

The reason I ask is to see what tool you're using for putting in the pistons into the cylinder because that one I used for my engine was kinda iffy. I wasn't too happy with it.

I'm doing the entire assembly myself, If i had the machines I'd do all the machining myself I worked as and automotive machinist before I got my engineering degree. For installing pistons I have this ring compressor, No complaints, works great.

I'm shooting for 375+ with a GT2876 or 450 with a t3/t4 set up. I'll probally run the GT2876R because i want good mid range power too. I'm hoping bumping up to 9.0:1 compression will aid with that. I'm also using a 1.2mm thick cometic head gasket.
