From a less that reputable source I was told that side mount intercoolers on S13 Redtops are sufficient for up to 10 pounds of boost without worry of the intake charge being too hot, I am new to SR20's and plan on running stock boost for a while but do not have the money for a Front Mount Currently. Is this true? if not, any suggestions on cooling until the front mount, its about to be summer and summer here is hot as hell...

The stock sidemount is sufficiant for summer use(F.Y.I. it doesnt pertain to just the S13 redtops, it includes all of the SR sidemounts). I ran mine in 95+ degrees during the summer to and from work on the highway and never had a problem. A FMIC would make the air charge cooler but the sidemount is fine for now, and yes 10psi is the highest you should go on the sidemount.

...I second that, did you upgrade your fuel pump? If not you may want to look at that before a FMIC.

I run 10 psi but it'll creep to 11. I've ran 15 psi accidentally but I ran 13.7 with open diff.. 10 is perfect for daily drive.

Thanks all... I'm running a new stock fuel pump, ive been running a N/A SOHC with the R4 nismo cam and full port job, balanced bottom end, among other things (my summer job $$ ALL went into it) and its peaked at about 300 hp dynoed. gets sideways easy because it has a LOT of low end, but im lookin for top end now.

if you dont have the cash for a Fmic then why are you worried about 10 psi. Keep it low so you dont blow something trying to go faster. Just be patient.

Now I'm confused... do you have a SR or not? Let us know what your working with.

If you are running a SR that stock fuel pump isn't sufficiant, new or not. Upgrade that bvefore the front mount.

I have a 300 hp n/a currently, SR is on the way. I am looking for what i MUST do to have it in, i am not planning on cranking the boost, i just needed to know if i was going to mess up the engine by running sidemount. What size and power pump do i need? Planned, priced, and researched upgrades for SR - full forged stroked bottom end, fully balancing the bottom end, full MSD ignition sysyem (simply useing the one on my SOHC). T3/04 greddy. FMIC (second of all) full port-matching and polishing the head, porting and polishing the intake manifold if not purchasing aftermarket and Cams. Any other suggestions?

Wait, you have $20,000 availble to get 300hp (exactly?) out of a one lump wonder but you cant afford a FMIC?

I dynoed 208whp @ 7psi w/T28 on my sidemount.

And welcome to nico, power claimes not accepted without dyno graphs

uhh, it took some dirt track enginuity and about 7 grand... no where near 20, no one looks at the simple stuff like shaving the head to up compression, copper head gaskets and such for the stock power plant. I dont have a chart because it was engine dynoed, sorry, so i guess that claim is to who wants to hear it, but i cant exactly get another due to the small fact that engine is SCREWED... Unorthodox lightened pully.... it ripped the center out of it from putting too much torque on it (as in from the engine, not too much on the bolt) they offered to replace it but i gave up on that engine after we found the oil pump was full of aluminum shavings... which scared the cam and killed all followers and valves and...... every oil port........ i have picks but no internet host, anyone care to offer and explain how to do so i can post pics

I don't know did anyone say this yet. too lazy to read! But I don't know what year 240SX you have but If you have a 89-90 S13 240SX just cut a hole on the driver side of the bumper to help air move through the SMIC! but if you have a 91-94 then you don't have to worry about it since under the Turn Signal there is already a Grill! If you have a 95-98 240SX has I know of you would be better also cuting a hole on the driver side since there is no air vent!

HOpe this Help!

[QUOTE=kane2g]WTF???? you getting NA SR and turbo-ing it??or taking Distributor and puting it in a DET??- - Just to let you know - MSD is a spark system, they MAKE distributors.... they make ignition kits, blaster coils(more powerful coils) distributors and multiple other parts (ask or at least do a little research before claiming BS next time)
