Someone is selling this swap for 900 dollars. It came out of an r31 and im just wondering if its worth my time.

"It's a redtop rb20det, has a starion intercooler setup, brand new spec stage 2 clutch. I want it gone, I need the money 900 obo. All it needs is a downpipe and mounts and your good to go."

It doesnt have a maf but it comes with ecu and harness.

What do you guys think?

Don't do it, a silver top rb20 costs a whole $300 more and will be way better for any goal you have, the red top rb20 is old and kinda hard to find any parts for... Hope this helps!

I have a red top rb20det, but mine has ECCS. It is identical in nearly every way to the s2 "silver top" as it has the same manifold and ecu and those are the major changes. The blocks, sensors, everything else are the same as far as I have seen. Maybe there are differences I don't know of. Just don't get a NICS intake version, those ARE older and more antiquated in the head and intake, still the same block though I think. My motor has bigger injectors and an rb25 turbo, it spools to 10psi by 2700 and pulls hard. I have 3 inches of free flowing invidia down pipe and exhaust with a hi-flow cat midways. My driving comp said I ran a 13.4 1/4 on a cool motor/inter-cooler and street tires, that was with the stock side mount. Bout to have a full 3 inch pipe front mount inter-cooler and intake setup, stepping down to tb diameter from ic to tb. Trying to make way for a 30 series garrett or a holset soon. I love my motor. Plus, it sounds better than ANY other car I have heard before, and it isn't that loud even. And an 8k redline(i am conservative with that too they say) with I6 is cool too.

waste of time really, the silver top is marginally more with a better ecu (more receptive to tuning) and better head design.

What are the ecu differences? My pin out is the same. Just different hardware inside?
