Hey guys, I got my HoodLift installed yesterday by the 2 wonderful creators of Redline Tuning HoodLift. Just wanted to share some pics with ya.

This is the regular version of the HoodLift, not the Elite (stainless steel). We first tried the "Stillen way" of installing the HoodLift...but quickly found out that there was too much stress on the hood. For stock hoods, it will work okay, but if you decide to get a carbon fiber hood, it won't work as well. So, with that in mind, they carved out a little piece in the side trim with an exacto knife and screwed the ball stud to one of the bolts.

From looking at the pics from Adidas2go, it seemed like the gas springs were installed backwards on the Stillen. Not sure if that's the correct way or if it really affects anything, since you want the spring to push up rather than down. There was a little drilling involved...which wasn't that big of a deal, but does require power tools. As you can see with the pic below, the top part of the gas spring is connected to a black plate, which is drilled onto the hood.

Overall, if you've got all the right tools, it should take an hour max to install. The Stillen one is definitely easier to install. But this one isn't that bad either...gives you an excuse to buy some more tools! Also, the stainless steel version looks very sharp...wish they would've given me that one

This should be up on their website within the next week or two. There will be a manual that goes along with the kit. Cost is $85 for black, $115 for stainless steel. Don't quote me on that...but those are the numbers they gave me...or so I thought.

What do u guys think?

if ya got any questions for Redline, email [email protected]

By the way, I am not trying to bad mouth Stillen. Just pointing out the differences. I love everything Stillen has done for us Coupe-sters!!

Looks nice man! I was looking at the Redlines but they didn't have any applications for the 08 coupes so I went with Stillen. Aside from that, Stillen has been great with all of their group buys here on the forums
